An excellent stainless steel. It was developed for use in aerospace bearings. The original steel was double vacuum melted so it was very clean. The problem was availability. Latrobe was (is) difficult to deal with so the steel was scarce. We recently heard about a PM version of BG42. If it becomes available we will stock it.
