| We had these stop pins custom made for us. The pins are made from 440C heat treated to HRC 56-57. The diameter tolerance is +-.0002″. We chose heat treated 440C for the combination of corrosion resistance, hardness and toughness.When we first researched stop pins, we noticed the material of some stop pins is listed as alloy steel which is carbon steel. Some pins are listed as stainless steel but the alloy and hardness are not listed. Some pins were listed as 18-8 which is not heat treatable or 416 which is too soft. Be an informed buyer. It is important to know what you are buying and if it is the right material for the intended purpose. |
