We started selling this steel in 2006. Several knifemakers confused the name 80CrV2 as a steel from China. At that time and for years afterward, we were the only supplier selling this steel. Other suppliers have followed our lead and are now stocking this steel.
This steel is similar to the composition of 1080 with the addition of small amounts of chromium and vanadium. It has tight specifications and is a good steel to use for knives.

80CrV2 Heat Treating Information:Austenitize: Heat to 1545°-1615° and hold for 5 minutes. Quench in oil.
Temper: Temper twice for two hours each time. Use the table below to achieve desired hardness.
