.125" Stainless Pivot:
Our pivots are machined to very tight tolerances. This pivot is made from 416 stainless steel and heat treated full hard to approximately HRC 42.
Ream the blade pivot hole and liners with a .1250" reamer. The blade will move freely on the pivot shaft.
The screws are 2-56. The high number of threads make it easy to adjust the blade tension.
The pivot and screws are sold together.

.187" Stainless Pivot:
Our pivots are machined to very tight tolerances. This pivot is made from 416 stainless steel and heat treated full hard to approximately HRC 42.
Ream the blade pivot hole and liners with a .1875" reamer. The blade will move freely on the pivot shaft. The raised area on the pivot shaft next to the head will press fit into the liner and prevent the pivot from spinning when adjusting the blade tension.
The screw is #6 with 64 threads per inch. The high number of threads make it easy to adjust the blade tension. The thread is non-standard.

.250" Stainless Pivot Bushing:
Like our pivots, our bushings are machined to very tight tolerances. This bushing is made from 416 stainless steel and heat treated full hard to approximately HRC 42.
Ream the blade pivot hole with a .2500" reamer. The blade will move freely on the bushing. The inside diameter is .1250".
Place the bushing in the pivot hole on the blade and surface grind both pieces together. When you have ground the blade & bushing to the desired thickness, remove the bushing from the pivot hole. Then grind an additional .001" from the blade. When assembled the blade will have .0005" clearance on each side.
Use our .125" barrel pivot PS125 in the bushing. When assembling the folder, tighten the pivot screws until the liners are tight against the bushing. The extra .001" bushing width will provide the clearance needed for the blade to move.

The ball bearings are hardened 52100 and the carrier is nylon. This bearing is made to work with our .125" pivot. It slides freely over the shaft of the pivot with minimal excess play.

The screw is made from heat treated 410 stainless steel and finished in black oxide. The black finish can be sanded off if you prefer a bright polished pivot. The drive recess is a T9 Torx.

This screw is used with our .250" pivot item number PS250. The screw is #8 with 64 threads per inch. The high number of threads make it easy to adjust the blade tension. The thread is non-standard. If you want a tap it must be custom made.
The screw is made from heat treated 416 stainless steel. The head of this screw is plain so you can machine your own drive recess.

.300" Titanium Hidden Bolt:
This hidden bolt is made from CP-3 titanium. If you need a hidden bolt that is rust proof and/or non magnetic, this is the fastener to use. Install the bolt in the handle and grind off the excess until the bolt is flush with the handle material. When finished the bolt has a smooth look like a pin or rod.
The combination of hidden bolts and a good adhesive like Acraglas will securely fasten your scales to the tang of the knife.

Vibra-Tite VC-3 is a different kind of thread locker/sealer. Most thread lockers are good for one use. As soon as the screw is turned, the thread locker is broken and must be reapplied. Screws assembled with VC-3 can be disassembled and reassembled up to five times without reapplying. This means you can adjust pivot screws without worrying about the screw coming loose later.VC-3 is a blend of acrylic resins. Apply VC-3 to threads and allow to dry for 30 minutes. After the locker/sealer dries the fastener is ready to use.
We recommend thinning VC-3 50/50 with methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) when using on small screws.
